Victim of Fraud

Use the information below if you think you are a victim of fraud or there is unauthorized use of your account.

If you think you are victim of account fraud follow these steps:

    1. Call one of our South Valley Bank & Trust branches as soon as possible to notify us of the situation.

    2. Go to the U.S. Government identity theft web site to view and print an ‘ID Theft Affidavit’.

    3. Contact any of the three major credit bureaus below. Notify them of the situation and have them place a ‘fraud alert’ on your credit file. The fraud alert requests creditors to contact you before opening any new accounts or making any changes to your existing accounts. As soon as the credit bureau confirms your fraud alert, the other two credit bureaus will be automatically notified to place fraud alerts, and all three credit reports will be sent to you free of charge.

    • Equifax (800) 525-6285
    • Experian (888) 397-3742
    • Trans Union (800) 680-7289

    1. File a police report through your local police department. Get a copy of the report to submit to South Valley and others that may require proof of the crime.

    2. File a formal complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) through their website . The FTC maintains a database of identity theft cases used by law enforcement agencies for investigations. Filing a complaint also helps the FTC learn more about identity theft and the problems victims are having so they can better assist those who are in need.
